FAQs – Gravel Driveways Brierley Hill
Yes — gravel naturally creates noise when walked or driven on, which many homeowners like because it alerts them to movement. It’s a simple but effective added security benefit compared to smooth surfaces.
No. The gravel we install is rounded and graded specifically for driveway use, meaning it won’t harm tyres or puncture them. Some stones may sit in the tread temporarily, but they fall out naturally when driving.
Absolutely. We can shape the layout using subtle edging, sleepers or block features to define parking bays, paths or turning spots. Gravel is very flexible for design if you want more structure.
Most gravel driveways sit on a 150mm compacted sub-base with 40mm of gravel on top. The depth may change slightly depending on vehicle weight, ground conditions and whether edging is installed.
In most cases, no. Gravel is a permeable surface, meaning water drains through naturally, so it usually falls outside of planning restrictions. If you’re changing the layout significantly, we can advise further.
